Community Involvement

Humane Society
The Humane Society envisions a community where every pet has a permanent and loving home, every companion animal is spayed or neutered and all pets are treated with respect and compassion. Their mission is to protect and promote the well-being of animals and to foster positive relationships between animals and people. We also sponsor the Dogothon. At 15 years, we are proud to be the longest contributor and one of the largest donors.

Annual R.A.G.S. - An event held at Mercedes-Benz of Tacoma
RAGS is a juried wearable art competition and sale that benefits the YWCA's domestic violence prevention and intervention programs. Produced entirely by volunteers and underwriting donations, RAGS offers guests an opportunity to view and acquire fabulous wearable art and accessories created by artisans from across the country. Contributions and a portion of all sales help the YWCA keep abused women and children safe, healthy, and self-sufficient. In 2011, RAGS raised $97,000 for the YWCA! Over the last 17 years they have raised over $982,000.

Precious children - An annual event held during October at Volkswagen of Tacoma
Precious Children, a not for profit society, works to help victims of crime and their families. The affairs of the Fellowship are conducted by the founder, a national director, executive staff, promotional officers and volunteers in the country. The Fellowship works closely with law enforcement. The work of the Fellowship is present in 18 states of India.

Special Olympics
Enables people with intellectual disabilities around the world to experience the power of sports every day. The Special Olympics helps to change society's perceptions and treatment of people with intellectual disabilities - and creating a better world for us all.

Boys & Girls Clubs
In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them. Boys & Girls Clubs offer that and more. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence. Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe place to learn, grow, and have fun.

American Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society is at work in communities all across the country providing programs aimed at reducing the risk of cancer, detecting cancer as early as possible, ensuring proper treatment, and empowering people facing cancer to cope and maintain the highest possible quality of life. We have all lost family and loved ones to this terrible disease and want to help find a cure.

Northwest Harvest
The mission of Northwest Harvest is to provide nutritious food to hungry people statewide in a manner that respects their dignity, while fighting to eliminate hunger. Northwest Harvest's hunger relief network is comprised of more than 300 food banks, meal programs and elementary schools as unique as the communities they serve. They provide food to these programs, without fees of any kind, to supplement their other sources of support. We are matching all donations as our part in helping fight off hunger. We are the main co-sponsor of this program.

Toys For Tots
The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens. Let's all give what we can to help put smiles on childrens faces this season!

United Way
United Way of Pierce County has been at the heart of creating opportunities for lasting change. Through our safety net of services, and with the gracious help of our many volunteers and donors, we are making measurable improvements and creating solutions to the most critical needs in our area. United Way makes a strategic effort to create lasting change by addressing the underlying causes of community problems. Our latest contribution was our time. All of our General Managers, General Sales Managers, Rob Larson, Rob Larson Jr., Josh Larson, and Craig Noyes donated roughly 5,500 man hours to beautify the property of a local low-income day care facility. The results were awesome.
